You have just stumbled upon Beautifique studios! I'm Nina Mata, a freelance graphic designer & illustrator residing in New York City. This site is a quick glimpse of who I am and what I love to do. And be sure to come back! I love guests!

Beautifique is derived from the word:

Beatific be·atif·ic adj..

Latin beatificus making happy, from beatus happy, from past participle of beare to bless; perhaps akin to Latin bonus good – 1649.

In a nutshell...

I've been drawing for as long as I can remember. I got bit by the art bug at about 7 years old when Highlights Magazine published my drawing entitled "Me as a Mermaid" back in 19Eighty-somethin' In 1996 I attended the High School of Art & Design where I concentrated in Commercial Arts minored in cheerleading, flim, and boys. In 2004 I switched from Fine Arts and majored in Illustration at The Fashion Institute of Technology.

In 2008 I started my freelance career as well as working as an in house Graphic Designer for a print and advertising house where I was responsible for producing direct marketing materials for local businesses within the Tri-State area.

I love what I do. It is a natural high for me. Although I value a lot of what I've learned during formal years of creative training, most of my skills are self taught from books, trial and error. I think failing and finding your own solution is the best (and most rewarding) way of learning and anything.

In my spare time, you can find me, wining and dinning (then whinning), sleeping, watching a lot of chick flicks & documentaries on religion or Atlantis, sketching curvy ladies, correcting old paintings (cause it's never finished!), taking lots o' pictures and playing with my cranky kitty, Tabitha.
